Labor Income

Labor income is all compensation that is a return to work effort. It includes labor earnings, employer-provided benefits, taxes paid to the government on behalf of employees, and income from self-employment that is a return to labor. Paid leave (vacation and sick leave) is not counted as compensation. Labor income does not include the value of time associated with childrearing or other at-home activities that do not produce market goods or services.
